Get Involved
Our community club is reliant on volunteers
From coaches to kit managers, welfare officers and referees - without people giving up their spare time to provide a safe, organised environment for the boys and girls to play football in, we would not have a club.
We are always looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our football family - we have to turn children away from the club each year as we don't have enough coaches for all of our teams.
As a club we provide great support and guidance in all aspects so why not get involved?
If you're interested in getting involved with the club in any capacity please let us know.
'If we build it, they will come.'
Become a Coach
You don't need to be a football expert to become a coach, you just need some enthusiasm, positive energy and around 2-3 hours of your time each week. Becoming a coach with Braintree Town Youth F.C. has never been easier and you will have unlimited support from our army of volunteers already at the club.
Whether you're thinking of becoming a coach for the first time, or perhaps you're looking to join from another club in the area, please get in touch and we can have a no obligation chat about what makes our community club so great.
New Coach FAQs:
How much time will I need to invest?
The time investment varies from coach-to-coach but in all likelihood you'll be committing 2-3 hours per week to cover training, matches and a bit of admin. At various points across the season you might need to commit some extra time, particularly when registering your team with the league, but this can be done relatively quickly if you're organised. Will I have any help?
Yes! We have an army of volunteers that will support you, whether you're in need of training kit or equipment, or need some help with planning a training session. Some of our volunteers have over 20 years experience with grassroots football, while others have never played the game themselves. Our coaches love to help and you can count on them to assist you any way they can. You'll also have the help and support of your team's parents. You can look to them to take on some of the admin tasks, like collecting the monthly subs, while apps such as Spond make tracking attendance a doddle. What will my responsibilities be?
The most important thing is to ensure the children are in a safe environment and having fun. You're there to let them play football - simple as that. There are a few admin tasks which we'll also need your help with, as detailed below:Provide registration details for your team at the start of the season
Keep track of who's attending your training sessions and matches - Spond is a great app for this and only takes 10 mins to get set up
Set up training and match pitches ready for the children to play - your team's parents can assist with this too
Ensuring subs are collected each month - this is a great task to delegate to a fellow parent-helper
Ordering kit/equipment - you just tell our Kit Team what you need and they'll sort the rest for you
Really its just about being there - getting to training 15mins before the rest and setting up a pitch / some cones for them to play. Arriving 30mins before matches to make sure everything is in place for the game - it's very straightforward and you don't need any experience.
Do I need to know a lot about football?
No you don't. You don't need to know anything about football at all to be a coach, the focus is on ensuring our children can have fun playing. The club pays for you to take FA Coaching badges to teach you the basics (the course is a lot of fun and really useful), and we have lots of other volunteers to help and support you. In short, as long as you like working with children then you can be a great coach. Our club ethos is about giving as many children as possible the opportunity to play and have fun.How do i get started?
Start by getting in touch to let us know you'd like to help out. We'll organise to meet with you and start getting things like your DBS check in place, plus we have plenty of resources that will help you get going.
