Development Squad
Your journey with Braintree Town Youth F.C. starts with the Development Squad.
David Stacey runs a weekly session on Saturday mornings with boys and girls in Reception and Year 1 with a focus on fun and development. David has been with the club for a number of years and has helped hundreds of children begin their football careers.
Once they 'graduate' from the development squad they are placed into a team and will start playing organised matches - at this point the club look for enthusiastic parents to get involved in coaching and to take on a team.
Mini Soccer
Mini Soccer is for children in Years 2, 3, 4 or 5 and provides a fun, non-competitive environment for them to hone their skills and challenge their development at their own pace without any pressure from the coaches or parents. We learn by making mistakes and this allows our players to flourish in later years.
Under 7 and Under 8 teams begin playing at 5-a-side and then progress up to 7-a-side when they reach Under 9 and Under 10.

Youth Football
At Under 11 the children progress to 9-a-side and new rules, such as offside, are added. Their first year at this level remains non-competitive however at Under 12 the teams are placed into a league structure where they will challenge other clubs in the area in league and cup competitions. Promotion and relegation from these leagues follow into the next season as they continue through the different age groups into Under 13 and up to Under 18.
